Some geographical stuff...This is an enlarged part of the whole map, just showing Longstone and surroundings. It's quite a large image, so will take a while to download. The basic triangulation of the area is believed to have been done in the first decade of the 19th century, and the topographical details added between 1837 and 1842. Thus this should show Longstone as it was round about those dates. The maps were later updated to add railways as they spread across the landscape.
